Movie review !

One of the most anticipated releases of the year has just been screening this month, Mickey 17 by director Bong Joon-Ho, best known for his 2019 movie ‘Parasite’ has adapted Edward Ashton’s novel ‘Mickey 7’ to present us this fabulous science-fiction and comedy picture that has been long expected. With the fascinating performances of well-known talented movie stars such as Robert Pattinson, Toni Colette and Mark Ruffalo this dystopic picture feels weirdly not futuristic. With a ruthless and idiotic dictator-type of ruler, desperate Mickey signs up to become an ‘expendable’ in an out of world mission, where he will risk his life over and over again by cloning his body. 

I went to watch the movie with high expectations and I’m glad to say that it didn’t disappoint me at all. I had the great pleasure of going to an IMAX screening which gave me the perfect opportunity to completely immerse myself in this movie. The pacing was just right, it didn’t feel forced at all; intricate and well-developed characters are often the key that makes or breaks the movie; and above all, the highly regarded style of the director who makes vital choices in this picture. I made a review on my letterboxd account and gave it four out of five stars.
